IMO, because people idolize people who choose certain careers (star struck) and they hold them to un-human standards and if they have faults then their world crumbles for the regular person. I have never understood "star struck" thinking they are just people.

Thoughts - many - but, if society/public understood the true scale of abusers, I believe government are worried this would lead to societal breakdown, rioting and chaos. Institutional trust is the foundation of society. Plato talks about this, if these institutions are seen as

don’t like being called out? Even the ones breaking their professional/ethic code of conduct by not calling it out know they should be so are defensive. Had someone tell me abusers wouldn’t spend 3 years doing a degree to get to kids. Should I laugh or cry?!

I wish I had a way to press charges against the social workers who flipped the allegations of sexual abuse, physical abuse and literal neglect made by my child against my child’s bio dad into a campaign to go after me whilst supporting him with housing, bus pusses and job connections. And they brought zero charges or investigations to him. I swear to god those women are psychopaths. But there is nothing anyone can do because no lawyer will touch social workers. Thank god it’s over but I can’t imagine how many people they will continue to screw over.

It’s not offensive to say. It’s reality. As long as there are humans in authority positions, someone somewhere will get the bright idea to abuse their power. Seems to me like the ones saying this is “offensive” MIGHT be the ones engaging in such behavior.

Failed to find it on google but I read an article? post? a couple of years ago about the first day of social work training, the students were told “Look around the class, 1, 2 or 3 of you will be abusers”.

Good point to make, I think CAFCASS see themselves as above the law, nobody dare challenge them and frankly you have, so they have now retreated but the conversation definitely needs to continue and rather than retreat Jackie needs to own the possibility that it’s true.

Some abusers are DRAWN to certain fields because they ARE looking for that blanket immunity by profession- that automatically casts doubts on their victims claims, gives them access to the most intimate details of peoples lives, gives them unfettered access to vulnerable ppl.
