It’s not at the equator so this tower needs to support compressive, tensile and shear forces in a thin structure beyond anything available to material sciences. By putting the animations in Florida the mechanics are more difficult. Also, the vehicle decelerates too rapidly for us humans. This is based on estimates of the FOV of the virtual camera and its relative lack of distortion. In short, this animation looks nice but clearly wasn’t made by an engineer following the laws of physics.

@elonmusk Because it would eventually sweep every satellite out of the sky. It would have to be built at the equator and extend quite far into space, and all but the geosynchronous satellites cross the equator.
