"I'd be willing to be shot at by muskets if aimed at me" is a phrase that suggests they've got a ring shaped pattern, and probably worth testing. Doubly so if you could get a clear barrel for high speed footage.

I asked on YouTube to ask the same here What if we throw the ball in vacuum instead? Maybe all air resistance will become 0 and even no need to spin the ball and maybe observation will be completely different
