@Pints_W_Aquinas Just one of the many many many errors of desacralized Protestantism. Protestants lack the grace of the sacraments, which is why they believe a father can/should block a vocation Here’s a thread on why allowing wellspring to block an adult’s vocation is anti-patriarchal (thread):

@Pints_W_Aquinas @NickJFreitas your opinion is well meaning, but you’re wrong. Your daughter can marry whomever she may, with/without your say so. You have ZERO standing to block her marriage; it’s your DUTY to lead her to choose a good Christian man. @timotheeology talks about this.

@Pints_W_Aquinas I asked my fiancée’s dad for his permission. Did I need to? Probably not. But I wanted to do things “proper”. When I asked, he stood up and said “what took you so long? Of course you can!” One of the best moments of my life to date.

@Pints_W_Aquinas Hence the handing her to the new husband at the wedding. This symbolizes the fathers authority and responsibility of supporting and protecting is now his.
