LMAO you have no idea, all I ever hear when I go to a city tournament is “PR! PR!Wheezer win! PR!” Like bros don’t you understand I USED TO BE LIKE YOU! Stop glazing wins on me I’m just a scrub like the rest of you😭😭😭

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

too many ppl have protag syndrome or are just annoying, its reaaaaally bad in long island rn

U spoke and I listened and I think our region would be better off banning Justin jpeg for good and putting all of this banter behind us

Very well said. At least from what I recall, the shift to PR culture happened as soon as Q4 last year started and there’s still a bit of momentum. I do think soon tho the culture will fade as others will start improving for the sake of improving. Good video, inspiring for sure :)

@reed_qt I’m still watching but I have to say what you said at 2:05 is what sooo many people get wrong about it, I’ve had that thought for a bit but couldn’t put it into words and you did perfectly

thank you. just, thank you.

@cheautomata this is rlly well said, sat my ass down and listened

Sports Psychology mention

off topic before i watch you are fuckin glowing girl

im fuckin trying 😭 thank you girl

Very well said esp part w just gunnin specific wins just to get on a pr. I think everyone’s mental before they r ranked should be to pursure a level and consistency in their play to where they could get on a list without even acknowledging its existence a lil

The best point in this video imo is when you were talking about improvement, I learned how to improve in a healthy way playing smash and while I havent been as active as I was in 2024-2025 I was able to use what I learned in all aspects of my life today including my passion which is content creation. I will always credit Smash when it comes to my current and future success. Will always cheer for NY and would love to see everyone here succeed together!

@Dukeste00811682 i completely agree with what you’re saying on this. i’ve had this mentality for the past year and a half to 2 years. it may take me a long time, but i’m still taking my time, having the journey, and making friends along the way. it’s always good to see everyone from NYC and PA

Wonderful video

YUP

Really love this and I wish alot more get to see this in the scene!

You've said iterated this out perfectly. I just hope the zoomers can parse what you've dished out. I definitely know my heart's not 200% in it, as life happens, but when I'm playing a set I know I try, and that's all I care for. We've forgotten how gratifying it is... to lose.

Curious as to your thoughts on how ego display out of game affects the scene? Genuinely I believe NYC pre 2023 and pre Covid was boosted by natural talent from Smash 4, and egos and PR talk were WAY worse than it is now, but OOS results backed it up so it was never an issue.

i think it's the timing. before people just talked shit just because it was the dynamic back then (which i'm a fan of), nowadays i think people bring up their wins/results unprompted for validation

I've been struggling with the exact thing you described in your second point, very good wake up call. Thank you elena 🫶

well put. I'm sometimes guilty of chasing wins but it has gotten to a degree where I see that's all that people talk about now.

incredibly well put Elena. thank you :]

@_SoraJ_ 👏🏾👏🏾

This fundamentally changed how ima look at smash from now on and the mentality aspects of it This was very well said absolutely true, thank you for making this and hope to see each other soon

real shit

damn this video is so goated. lmao i remember how my intial start in the rivals scene when my improvement was so focused on being/beating the PR and that it became the biggest thing holding me back in terms of mentality. after multiple breaks in november/december (1/?)

The more I dig into the Tri-state scene it's so interesting to see the differences between the 3 states. Coming from PA, we're DEF the weakest of the 3, but almost by choice atp. Steve bans in Philly handicap you but helps them enjoy the game more and is better for their comm

but what if my goal is to beat wheezer and nothing else

@grok please summarize this video

I’m very lucky to be in a region and a subregion that really cares about each other. Yeah, ranks are cool, but we understand that a ranking is only as good as the region. Georgia, in my opinion, is one of the absolute best places to get better.

You sound like a bitch! get that dub and keep it pushing !

Good video

I've said it before and I'll say it again, PR chasing is the downfall of so many players. Why? Cuz that goal should be higher. So many peeter out once they hit that goal. It doesn't go anywhere once that number happens.
