At the same time: • Angela Rayner has now been cleared by HMRC • Andy Burnham is reportedly manoeuvring for a return to Parliament • Labour MPs are openly turning on each other • Ministers are said to be “despairing” behind closed doors The party that promised to “end the chaos” now appears completely consumed by internal warfare. And the bigger problem for Labour is this: There is still no agreement on who should replace Starmer — or whether any replacement could actually recover public trust before the next election. Westminster is now entering one of the most unstable political periods in years.
