Tim you got the ageist element of the benefit proposals incorrect. If someone age 50 loses their job, they only get full entitlement to retirement if they are fully paid up and have more or less been fully employed throughout their adult life. This measure is to stop life on the dole, regardless of age.

The general public have their heads down - trying to earn some money, pay their bills and deal with the day to decline of the UK. We have become like the frog in the pan of water - slowly heated until boiled to death. People don’t have time to consume media or political news that is any more than sound bites and don’t have the mental energy or stamina to examine the economy or social issues in depth. Therefore we have a growing group of people who are floating voters. They don’t vote based on ideology any more , they vote based on how they feel, who they vaguely like and trust, and who looks good. Shallow yes but inevitable when you’re a hot frog.
