Why should Chuck Schumer control whether the government stays open or not? Americans elected Republican majorities across the board. We shouldn’t need the 60-vote threshold for government funding. It’s time for Senate Republicans to step up, scrap the 60-vote threshold, and stop Schumer from shutting down the government.

As every 8th grade Civics student knows, it takes 60 votes to end the Schumer Shutdown. Since we only have 53 Republicans, we must have a handful of Senate Democrats do the right thing this week and vote to reopen the government. It’s time to stop the political games!
