Total bull I drive on average 70,000 miles a year if I drive 70 mph on average that’s 1000 hours if I drive 85 that 824 hours literally 4 full work weeks + saving 176 hours let’s look at real life big picture truth ✌️

Interesting (and formally false), but that’s not why people are speeding. They do it to arrive before the others. And it doesn’t matter if it’s one hour or one sec before. What matters is that they WIN.

Truck driver here. When you have an 11 hour trip speeding even 5 over makes a significant difference. Can usually save 30 minutes to an hour.

Simple kinematics. distance = speed × time -> time = distance / speed So for one kilometer it is: at 50 km/h: 72 seconds at 60 km/h: 60 seconds One one kilometer, it saves 12 seconds, but in one hour, you drive 10 kilometers more.

It also takes slightly longer to reach your destination if you crash and die

It can on long trips, but in most driving situations, especially with traffic lights, you're not getting there any faster.
