"Why studios dont make 2d films? Simple, cause its outdated artstyle as well as because of limited and inferior capabilites and technology with what its cable with 2d animation compared to superior live action and CGI" A scene from one of Disneys many outdated 2d films:

Now its worth noting that yes they did use cgi for the massive army how the fact this was all done with in 2d format just shows how the statemen that 2d animation is inferior and has limitations is borderline retarded

Simpler than that, no one has the skill anymore to do it. They all take the easy path with live action or cgi. Doing 2d animation takes work and creativity that is no longer taught .

Fact

Thank you for reminding me how awesome Mulan was. Now i have to re-watch it again.

Your welcome When I first saw this film whem i was 6 or 7 i was jaw dropped when I saw this scene with how massive, heart pumping and awsome it was

There is this completely ridiculous notion that 3d animation is an "upgrade" in 2d animation. When in reality they should be seen as two completely different art styles with strengths and weaknesses. It would be akin to thinking that pop music is an "upgrade" to country music.

Whoever said that needs to smacked upside the head a hundred times by the ghosts of Walt Disney, Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Richard Williams and be shamed by Hayao Miyazaki, Don Bluth, and every single animator from the Disney Renaissance

But hey we always got CalArts.....

CalArts Really? I honestly hate this timeline

To be entirely fair 3-D animation is a art form that Disney has been developing since the very first lion King movie. One of the animators of The Lion King broke down on how they were using early CG technology for the gazelle scene.

Correct, I didnt mention that, but they still put effort to make CGI blend with 2d in a 2d format so well to the point that you couldnt tell its cgi plus it just aged so well so much better and are still mindblowning than the ones we have in recent years

2D animation isn't outdated or dead, it's just too time consuming and expensive for studios to make a profit anymore. Disney has been using 3D CGI in their "2D" animations since 1985. Here's a List of CGI in all your favorite Disney movies: The Black Cauldron (1985). [the floating orb] The Great Mouse Detective (1986) — The intricate gears in the clock tower scene were done using CGI. Oliver & Company (1988) — Used CGI for vehicles and certain environments. The Little Mermaid (1989) — The ship during the final battle was CGI-enhanced. Beauty and the Beast (1991) — That iconic ballroom scene? Pure early CGI magic blended with 2D art. Aladdin (1992) — The Cave of Wonders head and the flying carpet escape sequence were prominent CGI highlights. The Lion King (1994) - Wildebeest stampede scene — This is the big one. Disney used a CGI herd simulation to animate the wildebeests realistically and in large numbers. Mulan (1998) - The snow effects, and more impressively, the massive Hun army, were generated using crowd simulation similar to The Lion King. The Great Wall and some elements of the fireworks during the final battle were CGI-enhanced Tarzan (1999) - This movie pioneered a technique called “Deep Canvas.” Deep Canvas allowed 2D characters (like Tarzan) to move fluidly through 3D-painted environments — especially the jungle scenes where Tarzan slides through trees and vines.

More like it costs too much, so they don't bother. They waste money on making content for people who hate the world.

It's expensive and time consuming to make. There is still talent out there, people keeping the art form alive. 3D is also expensive and time consuming to do well (in many ways it is front-loaded with getting the models done), but it can be done badly for cheap.
