Spot on. Just telling friends today that during my 10 years in Northern California, it was hot for 300 days a year, but not oppressive. Why? Dry heat. Here in UK now, it's humid.

Not in the stone age. Most including me have not got the money to run air conditioning.

In the Stone Age we lived in nice cool caves.

I am literally sitting with a fan from Argos blowing on me. He is right. I don't feel saved.

If you can’t handle the one or two weeks of genuinely hot weather we get each year then perhaps consider moving somewhere more to your liking. I love the few days of sunshine we get each year after spending most of it shivering under a duvet.

Brick buildings absorb the heat and release it, it hits you from all directions

and yet they can LITERALLY walk down the street and buy a fucking AC, yet for some unspeakable reason...they don't.

This is so true! We don’t get a chance to acclimatise as the temperature varies so much each day!

Insulation keeps heat out as well as in. Air conditioning causes heatwaves. Ptuj building inspectors have found the solution - install a black metal roof on an old building with tons of sawdust packed in the attic. Within weeks nature will find a way for the heat to escape.

"It's too cold - no wait... it's too hot now. Why is it so hot? Quick - ban hosepipes before there is a drought. Damn - it's too cold again! Where has the sun gone? Why is it always raining? It's so cold. Wait no, it's too hot now. The sun is too bright. I'm going to get sunburn"

What's the percentage of insulated houses in the UK? 0.001%?

That's not right... I went to the UK during one of their so called 30º "heatwaves". It's like a cool summer breeze compared to southern Portugal 43º summer afternoons. That's actually nightmarish. Even at night you can't sleep because you have no more clothing to remove and they have no AC's there either.

I hope you Americans realize that all this stuff about the Brits being unable to handle the heat is just a joke, right?! Like, we're not more humid than other countries, and the "houses are ovens" thing is wildly exaggerated. We just love complaining, but we survive just fine.

England is not a hot country😂, hence their pale skin.

Add 16 hours of sunlight and the heat peaks from 2pm-5pm. The heat builds up in our cramped up homes with no open space which turns homes into ovens.

Air conditioning is a necessity, not a luxury.

Properties in Lewisham reach over 40 degrees in heatwaves which is made worse by the wealthy & greedy landlord & her staff holding ransom repairs & services after botching up repairs on purpose to make women & families lives worse. @MayorofLondon @LGAcomms

It is the lack of AC. Humidity is just poor infrastructure disguised as weather.
