Every reputable board will have protection circuitry for this, it is literally fundamental to driving any inductive load. You won't fry a prusa or duet board by moving your motors, but you might fry a dirt cheap board that cut corners where they shouldn't have.

I had 20+ printers in for repair with fried drivers for that reason. Of course all of them were a certain origin.

I look at it like this. If you are moving a motor on your #3DPrinter by hand fast enough to burn out an LED or some other Circuitry then you have other more pressing issues going on.🥴
