Independent developer Jayjay-1992 has released a playable Unity recreation of the canceled Nintendo 64 version of Resident Evil 0, based directly on the playable demo Capcom showcased at E3 2000 and TGS Spring 2000. 🕹️Since no public ROM of the prototype has ever been released, the project was rebuilt from archived magazine previews, screenshots, video footage from the show floor, and preserved material from long-defunct websites. According to the developer, the goal was to faithfully recreate and preserve this lost piece of Resident Evil history. Players take control of Rebecca Chambers as she investigates the Ecliptic Express, where the train has already fallen into chaos. Along the way, she’ll encounter the dying S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team member Edward Dewey and meet Billy Coen for the first time as the horror begins to unfold. ♻️The recreation features classic fixed camera angles, pre-rendered backgrounds, tank controls, and the original item dropping system that was planned for the Nintendo 64 version. For now, the release is limited to content that can be verified from the original show floor demo.
