Wike on why they couldn’t allow Governor Fubara to seek a second term: There was a time we all agreed to let bygones be bygones, but something fundamental came up in politics. We all met and said if we allow this, there are those who want to see that we are no longer politically relevant. Two, there are external forces who want to hijack Rivers State, we should not allow them hijack Rivers State, they are those who see Rivers State as a cash cow.

“The Chances Of Fubara Returning As Governor Of Rivers State For a 2nd Term Are Very Slim And Almost Impossible. This Is Not Because Fubara Doesn’t Know What Wike Knows, But Because Fubara Does Not Have What Wike Has. Let Me Explain…”~ Political Analyst Caesar

"President Tinubu intervened in Rivers State political cr!sis, and Governor Fubara agreed not to run for a 2nd term before the president, but if he feels he's too smart, that's not a problem. Nobody can stop anyone from running for an election, but people now know who you are" -Wike speaks on Fubara's plans to run for a 2nd term

All these things you are seeing didn’t start today, it started with the ministerial position. They are not happy (APC Governors) that I was given Minister of FCT. During the crisis with my Governor (Fubara), they misled my governor. They couldn’t give the governor a second term. - Wike
