He held up and stopped the runner physically. That was not a high 5. The runner is out and the 1st base coach, probably a dad that did not know any better, will probably hear from the Head coach. Some lessons are learned the hard way.

He was totally grabbing at the kid. Unless it was a home run, who gives a high five to somebody while they're rounding the bases? How do you run a baseball page and not know ball?

He made contact with the kid, which could have helped slow the child or get his attention more. The batter is out after being credited with a single.

Right call, wrong time. It’s little league folks…settle down

Nah, it looked like he touched the runner as he rounded first to hold him back. You can't do that.

The coach clearly slowed the runners momentum. Tough call but right call. The coach lost the game for them.

It's the right call. Maybe that wasn't his intent but IMO he held the runner back

Right call, but as an umpire "read the room". Is that the right time for the call?

Well, he did grab him. Dude knew it too.

Good call and perfect time for it. Gives the coach a perfect opportunity for a teaching moment.

Coach did not high five the kid. Coach stopped the kid. Coaches can not make contact with the base runner. Runner is out 100% of the time.

He did hold him up. At the same time don’t call that in little league ball

He wasn't giving the runner a high five he was grabbing him as he rounded. That's runner interference and the base runner is out. Nice way to negate the kid's hit. The general rule is you don't touch the runner. Period.

Correct call! Unfortunately you can’t touch the runner

He is pointing to go to 2nd, changes his mind and grabs the kid to stop him. The only issue I see is that this should have been called immediately when the play was over. Umpire either saw it or didn’t, but he can’t wait until the opposing coach says something.

He did grab him as he was rounding first

He held him up. Correct call.

This is what I luv about baseball. You can go to any part of this country and every single youth baseball coach has those exact same shorts on.

looked like he held him but what age is this? 7? 8? Use it as a learning opportunity. Don't call the kid out (even though that is the rule)

He touched player in fair territory he should be out

Correct call. Sucks but correct call.

It’s not even a close call. He’s absolutely out.

The better thing to get out of this is the coaches handled it correctly in front of the kids and parents. They took the call like mature adults. It’s a good lesson all around.

Look everyone, it’s a blind person who claims something that clearly contradicts the video. Nothing to see here. Coach grabbed the kid and stopped him from advancing….then high fives him. Can’t do that.

He did grab him, but these kids are super young and clearly this isn't the little league world series... Calling the kid out because of what his coach did is cruel to the kid right after he got a hit. You can clearly see the kid is going to stop anyway... He was just rounding.

Slow it down. Right when the kid touches the bag. He grabs the kids right arm

He was, he held onto his arm first, to turn him back to the base. Then they high fived. Now the intent might have been to get him to turn, so he could high five, but it also got him to stop and get on the base, hence the umpire was correct. Cheep call but not wrong.

You cannot touch the player.

He did hold him from making the turn. Clear as day.

Well yes he obviously didn’t know or forgot the rule… But props to the coach that tried to settle his own crowd down.

If you were a baseball nut like you say then you would see where the coach physically held up the runner BEFORE high fiving the kid

He appears to grab him, and high five after… By the strictest rule, the out is correct call. Couple things…relationship between coaches comes into play…if they are friends it gets a warning and game goes on…could be some animosity between them that gets the call addressed.

Even though that was illegal, I wouldn’t have called it. I would’ve gave a warning.

1st base coach needs to understand the rules, he made the mistake. No doubt about it. Sadly it looks like the Umps needed the opposing teams coach to point it out to them. Although I am not positive it can be called by the Ump alone. Does it need the opposing coach to call it out

Kids are like 8 years old. It's not the kids fault. Let him play. Give a warning, tell the coach he can't interfere again.
