South Carolina transfer Desmond Umeozulu is going to be a name for Alabama fans to monitor in the spring. Umeozulu boasts a 6-foot-6, 255 pound frame with a 6-foot-8 wingspan and 10-inch hands. The rising senior played in 36 games as a Gamecock. He registered 30 tackles and 1.5 sacks in three seasons. While the stats are not necessarily glaring, there is certainly untapped potential present. Umeozulu sat behind the likes of Dylan Stewart and Kyle Kennard the last two years. He had an opportunity to gain experience and grow as a player during that time. Some of that was put on display in 2025. There is an opportunity for Umeozulu to play an expanded role at the Bandit or Wolf positions in 2026 given the departures of multiple key contributors (Keeley, Russaw, etc.) along the defensive front. There are some areas that Umeozulu will need to work on, but he will definitely bolster Alabama’s defensive front heading into the 2026 season.

Syracuse’s William Kyle III is one of the best Big Man Prospects in this year’s NBA Draft. For the season Kyle averaged 8/7/1 along with 2.5 BPG and 1 SPG, while also shooting 66% from the field. Kyle also led all High Major players in Stocks per game with 3.5. Standing at 6’9 with a 7’3 wingspan and a 44 inch vertical Kyle has the tools and frame you want from an elite defensive big in the NBA. Kyle’s mix of elite athleticism, rim protection, defensive versatility, offensive rebounding, finishing, and motor is all of the traits teams are looking for in their rim running bigs in Kyle is one of the best in the class in all of those areas. On the defensive end Kyle uses his length and athleticism to be a highly impactful rim protector who also doesn’t foul which is extremely rare. He’s also versatile enough to play in a lot of different defensive systems and he's also versatile enough to switch onto smaller players. Kyle is also a high level help defender and uses his agility to make quick decision plays on the defensive end. Offensively he’s a very efficient rim runner who’s a strong screen setter, lob threat, while also being able to push in transition. He’s great at positioning himself for dunks where he finished with 59 this season. Kyle is also an efficient long dunking finisher where he shot 66% on layups. Kyle is also a solid passer for his archetype and has the ability to make plays in short roll situations. Kyle is one of 3 players since 2008 to have a BLK% of 9, a STL% of 2, make 50 dunks or more, while fouling under 3 times a game per 40, joining Brandon Clarke and Anthony Davis as the only other players.

A South Carolina hunter who was arrested by game wardens during a 2024 sting operation in Greenville County is now suing the state’s Department of Natural Resources. The charge against the hunter, Shane Huffman, was dismissed due to insufficient evidence, and Huffman is now claiming in the lawsuit that he was falsely arrested and maliciously prosecuted. That lawsuit is moving forward, according to one of Huffman’s attorneys, Lori Murray, who says it could eventually go to trial before a jury. The Boy's parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city. Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents. He was held in solitary, 80 miles from his city. He was alone without the presence of his parents or a lawyer. He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in his head, imagine all that voltage in a teenager's head. *70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carolina. LeBron got to start in Cleveland because the team was trash! Shaq wasn't winning anything, Swept multiple times in the playoffs despite playing with multiple All-Star guards before Kobe even became a Starter. He had Horace and Penny in Orlando, Nick and Eddie in Los Angeles, What did Shaq do with all that help? What happen in the 2004 Olympics? LeBron James who started for the Cleveland Cavaliers couldn't even get a starting spot on the Athens 2004 Olympic teams, he was on the bench behind Shawn Marion, Lamar Odom and Richard Jefferson. None of those players were All-Stars, yet he couldn't get a starting spot. Jerry West literally had to trade Eddie Jones away so that Kobe can start because Coach Del Harris refused to start Kobe over his vets. You cannot compare a system player and a heliocentric player. Most players in a heliocentic offense will average better stats. Luka's first 6 seasons are better than LeBron's first 6 seasons. Higher PPG, Higher RPG, Higher APG, Higher TS% while playing less minutes. MORE STATS DON'T EQUATE TO BETTER. When will these bozos understand? LeBron's playstyle led to more losses in the Finals. Is Nick Sirianni a better coach than Kyle Shanahan? Would the 49ers have made the playoffs if Sirianni was the head coach? Grant Cohn brought this up and I think it’s a very interesting take and debate. I think culture setters at HC are sometimes harder to find than play callers. You can be a great player caller, but can you manage the game, build a culture, hire a quality staff and develop players? Nick Sirianni deserves credit for that, even though Howie Roseman is a great GM. He is 47-20 in four seasons. That’s the highest winning percentage among active coaches. That doesn’t just happen because of talent. 49ers fans discredit Sirianni because of his personality, how he carries himself, the Big Dom - Dre Greenlaw incident, but at the end of the day, that has nothing to do with his coaching. Can’t wait to see the responses here, but Sirianni has won double digit games in three straight seasons, with 13+ wins in 2022 and 2024. 🏈

When one thinks of cricket and guitar, the first name that's most likely to pop up in your head is of Brett Lee. But a man who has had a far longer and deeper relationship with music, and guitar in particular, is former India coach John Wright. The New Zealand batter used to sing in the choir at his boarding school and had taken guitar lessons at the age of 10. While sports took centre stage soon in his life, music remained with him throughout his career. During his time with Derbyshire, he would often go to the local pub The Woodlark and play there. The guitar, in fact, remained a constant companion of Wright during his time with Team India as coach and he even wrote a number of songs in that 5 year period. He mentions in his autobiography about writing one of them sitting in a hotel room in Dhaka in 2004 on Christmas when he couldn't be with the family due to his work commitments, aptly titled Christmas Away Blues. After he was done with coaching, Wright decided to finally give time to music and from that came an album titled Red Skies in 2016.
