That wasn’t questionable lol. He was standing in the basepath

The runner was almost in the outfield? Sure buddy.

“Edge of the outfield” lmao he wasn’t even close to the grass

Textbook obstruction. This is not a difficult call, sorry White Sox fans.
The fact that the umpire is closer to interfering than Antonacci was is wild

Between those two calls it’s more like a conspiracy against Sam than questionable

These commentators are embarrassing

The comments in this thread are mad about the wrong thing. It’s clear as day obstruction. Infielder needs to avoid runner rounding a base within reason and that’s within reason. Id be upset that umpire made judgement he’d still arguably be safe without obstruction.

Make it make sense Seattle umps just letting guys run to China to get contact while running to third??

Don’t make it sound so modest. The umps blew the call.

Didn't look to me like he was almost in the outfield. Looked to me like the short stop was in the way, OBSTRUCTING the runner. On purpose or not, OBSTRUCTIOON.

On obstruction between 2nd and 3rd the runner is protected to 3rd. If he runs home it becomes a judgement call, would he have scored without obstruction in this case he would not have scored without obstruction. The umpires made a mistake imo

For all the people who do not know the rules, including these announcers, a runner establishes his own base path. This obstruction is an EZ call and the runner was properly awarded home. You are only out for leaving the baseline to avoid a tag. The runner could have went out to left field if he wanted.

The umps suck, worst called game this season.

“The edge of the outfield?”

I wouldn't say he sought out the contact but he definitely did not try to avoid it.

the mofoka was dead at home by 3 days, yet im suppose to believe he was gonna score regardless of making contact with antonacci.. give me a fucking break

No homerim opinion. The guy was lolly gagging in a reasonable route to the base path for going beyond 3B. I know j-rod on the base path looks like a drunk squirrel but damn dude ATTEMPT to get out of the base runners way

I'd be interested to see a graph showing the paths typically taken by players as they ROUND second AT FULL SPEED. Nothing seemed deliberate or excessive on the runner's part. Where the fielder "nonchalantly happened to be" standing seemed more deliberate than any running path.

I'm a Sox fan. Keep your head on a swivel. Look where the runner is and get the fuck out of his way. The runner did NOT go out of his way to make contact. But Sam Antonacci did not make much effort to avoid contact.

These commentators are terrible. What’s he supposed to do, run a straight line from each base on a double/triple hit? 😂 “It’s like he finds him on purpose”..bro the infielder needs to be aware..he’s literally standing right in the way.

What’s questionable about it? It’s clearly obstruction. You can’t just stand right in front of the runner without the ball. Just a pure lack of awareness.

Textbook obstruction. You make your own basebath. Announcer is clueless.

Who’s side is Schrifflen on😭

I knew the White Sox were going down the wrong path, pun intended, when I left them behind, but their announcers are gaslighting people now? Someone wake Jerry up.

This just proves there is no need for home and away team announcers bc of bias crap like this

That was crazy. Im with Venable

Big boy should take a ball to the back next AB

How are the White Sox involved in the weirdest, most ridiculous bass path calls of recent years????

2 points, 1, announcers are so off it’s scary they are on the air. 2nd, obstruction gets you the base you are going to, after that you are at risk

Except for the video that showed a normal round of second. What is the homer announcer talking about ?

This replay is insane bahahaha

He’s standing in the basepath…. Nothing questionable about it

Edge of the outfield he says. Literally the middle of the base path their bias won't allow them to see

I see these announcers are carrying on the tradition of Hawk Harrelson. Most ridiculously homer announcers.
