A man who says he was the person of interest being questioned in the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie has been released. The man, who only wants to be identified as Carlos, said he was detained after a traffic stop. Carlos said he was shocked when he was pulled over and didn't know who Guthrie is. "I'm innocent," he said, adding that he hopes the suspect is found soon so his name could be cleared. Authorities haven't confirmed that Carlos was the person of interest or that the person of interest has been released. CBS News has reached out to the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI about Carlos.

What we have been told is that there were some national security issues and cyber issues in respect of some different companies with whom Vikrant may have had some dealings... His wife was trying to find out what exactly had happened... She got in contact with the Ministry of External Affairs; everything was explained to them; Vikrant was given counsellor access; and thereafter, it was said that there are some investigations going on in respect of the case against different people, and during that investigation, it would be necessary for Vikrant to be there... Celina was the one whom she contacted first when she got to know about this, and she did not, at that point in time, come forward in any manner to help—at least, any visible help did not come from them. The case happened on the 6th of September 2023... She followed the protocol... and went about the case the way she was advised... She decided to wait for the case to get over... While Charul was never informed by Celina that she had decided to take any legal recourse in this matter, it would have been better if she had consulted Charul and discussed that this is what she was going to do about this. Charul would have come forward, and they could have taken steps that were in the best interest of Vikrant... The reason for filing the case is that if this was something that was motivated by her genuine concern for her brother, she should have consulted us... But to say that she is not being given information or that his wife is not giving her information, we actually strongly rebut because there are absolutely no such reasons. Charul was going to everybody whom she had a hope would be able to help Vikrant... “EVERYONE. This man came into my yard a couple of hours ago and offered to cut my grass for a certain price. I didn’t have enough money today to afford that on top of everything else, and I told him to come back in a week. A few minutes ago, I heard a loud noise outside of my house. I opened the door and noticed that he was cutting my grass. I went running out to him and yelled for him to stop... he shook his head no. He told me that he saw my kids playing in the yard and was worried about snakes being in the grass and biting them because the grass was too tall. I again told him to stop because I couldn’t pay him. He said that he didn’t need to be paid, he had grandchildren, and that he hoped someone would look after them in the same way. I was brought to tears. I hugged him. We talked about different struggles we’ve had in life, and he told me that this is what the news doesn’t report. He told me the news doesn’t report the black neighbor helping out the white neighbor because it isn’t good for the network to make money. I told him that he has a good heart. I told him I wish more people on earth were like him. We hugged again. He is still outside cutting my grass, and it’s dark now. I am so grateful to have him as a new friend. His name is Johnny, and he lives in Taylors, South Carolina. He cut my grass for free tonight because he was worried about my children playing outside in the tall grass. I am a J6er. The left always makes the analogy that "you broke into the Capitol!" We didn't break in, we were INVITED in. The doors were opened and we were told to come on it. Had one law enforcement officer told me not to go in I wouldn't have. The Capitol has one of the biggest most powerful PA systems and could have looped any warning. It was a Fedsurrection. It took him a little bit to kind of pick that up, but we so believed in him as a guy and his talent level that after a year, you could start to see it clicking. He became a big asset on special teams, and last year was the first time that we really believed he was going to step in there, really contribute at linebacker at a high level. It was his first start in his career, and he had earned it. We were going to move him ahead of Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles at the time. He was told to get out of the car and get on his knees but in his state of panic, forgot to put the car in park. The car with the children continued to move and another officer jumped in to stop it. The police detained the man while an ambulance was called to the scene to transport the children to the hospital.
