Wind turbines intentionally sway that to prevent it from snapping like a twig. This video shows it clearly from the inside.

How hard is it to climb that ladder when its doing this? Anyone who works on these can chime in maybe? Does it just become normal after doing it a few times?

"This is the kind of fact that makes you look at wind turbines differently. 😮💨 If they didn't sway, they'd snap? Does that mean they're designed to bend in storms too?"

Nope not intentionally

That movement can look alarming from inside, but it’s part of the design. 🌬️⚙️ Tall turbine towers are engineered with controlled flexibility, allowing them to absorb and dissipate wind-induced loads instead of behaving like a completely rigid structure.

Thank you

That one just faulted out (slammed the breaks on) they normally don’t move like that. In high winds the blades pitch to 90 and the wind blows through. I’m guessing they are troubleshooting it. The turbine will get up to speed then fault out, lock the breaks on and pitch the blades to 90. It’s a wild ride when you’re up there.

Wow
