Windows 8 Fluidity, even in the previews, never gets old wish modern software would always be this fluid, the animations really work well in that regard

By the way, thats running *without graphics acceleration* I had to remove the intel gpu driver due to one problem I was hitting yes that's how smooth it runs

I’m so fucking pissed that no one ever tried to go after this interface ever again no one

Windows 8.1 was the peak Windows OS. Few people tried it. Even fewer used it on tablets and with a pen, where it was excellent!

The last version of Windows to care about the general usage experience. Windows 10 and ESPECIALLY 11 is where they started piling the shit on with no regard for how it runs. I swapped over to Linux almost 2 weeks ago and my PC feels like I upgraded it 3 generations.

"Fluidity", And I'm watching the UI twitch violently several times

8.1 was the best. And I really liked the fullscreen start menu, which was no longer the default in 8.1

I loved Windows 8. I know most people hated it, but I had no issues with it. I bought a Surface Pro as soon as it came out and welcomed the improvements that came with 8.1. To a certain extent I wasn’t too happy with Windows 10 at launch, but I got used to what had been lost. It probably helped that I was rocking Windows Phone at the time. The whole thing felt like a very cohesive experience.

There's no better way to say this, Windows 8 was too early, and it's sad that I'll never get to see this design aesthetic ever again.

Daily praise to @stevesi 's leadership and team

8 was sooo well optimized, it worked well even on potato PCs

The Zune UI was crazy those dates

I miss Windows 8.1

We are praising Windows 8 now?? Lmao. I remember everyone shitting on this when it came out. 😂

My beloved live tiles, how I miss you

This was awesome, so long as you wanted a touch experience not a PC experience, Windows 8 had lots of great ideas, esp around horizontal scrolling apps.

Im so grateful we got over this ui. Good riddance

Windows Phone was so good. Compare that to the current Android shitshow.

You can try my software if I got close enough or it needs more polish;)

The way those tiles turned itself to preview the next data was so beautiful.

Yes, because Windows 8 was designed to make more Tablet-Friendly (Touch Devices Friendly). That's why Windows 8 has become a Failled Product (But, Windows 8.1 still didn't change much, despite returning the Start Button on Taskbar.

Well, Windows Phone 8 devices were like that too, and for batteries of less than 2000 mAh, they could beat any 7000 mAh Android phones Had a Nokia Lumia 635 with WP 8.1, 512 MB of RAM and did beat many 1 GB RAM Android devices +

I'm not sure this is a good demonstration of fluidity. You mostly just swiped back and forth 😅

Hahah no one liked that garbag

I will always love Windows 8.1 ❤️ The slopfests that came afterwards are the complete opposite...

I miss my 950XL... 🫤

What an abomination

Amé ese sistema, por mas que en las netbooks del gobierno en mi pais no lo corrieran bien. Pero cuando probé windows phone por primera ves, fue lo mejor que toque en mi vida.

ngl windows 8 on tablet definitely works whatever windows 10 on tablet was

Goodness, do you remember the windows Phone that thing had fluidity like crazyyyy

why not apple or are you saying windows should've kept this fluidity

_tries to remove PTSD tech support moments on this_ was thankful 8.1 and 10 came along

Love the tile aesthetics of windows 8, sad it just didnt really fly

Didn't knew Microsoft had some crackheads that pushed through such quality software to prod. Wish we could have this microsoft back that cared about consumer software.

This was DirectUI, right?

Moon Crystal for the Famicom (by Hect/1992) is a 2D action-platformer with remarkably fluid animations, rarely seen on 8-bit hardware. Never officially released in North America or Europe (on NES), but even so, it's highly regarded by retro gaming fans due to its high quality. Has not yet re-released or included in any modern game collection for a modern system.
