It’s now snowing in #Boston, and Winter Storm #Fern is getting to work ❄️ This remains a high-impact storm for the city and surrounding communities, with 18–24 inches of snow still expected across much of the metro area. It’s bitterly cold, and the snow is light and fluffy, which means it piles up quickly and reduces visibility fast. Boston is already responding in force. A conga line of snow plows is rolling through neighborhoods, nearly 900 crews are deployed clearing city streets, and the city has 40,000 tons of salt on hand for this storm and whatever winter throws next. Timing for Boston: • Snow underway now • Heaviest snow late afternoon into early evening • Brief bursts of 2–3 inches per hour possible around dinner time Road conditions will continue to deteriorate. If you don’t have to be out, don’t be.
