"They have never had extreme fire weather like this in a January before" California has experienced wildfires in January prior to 2025. Historical data indicates that from 1900, approximately 170 fires have occurred in January, which accounts for about 0.8% of all fires in California. Between 2000 and 2015, January and February combined saw 11 wildfires, destroying about 300 acres. Climate Alarmism driven by misinformation.

Absolutely! Winter wildfires are a stark reminder that climate change is disrupting natural patterns, making fires more frequent and intense, even in colder months.

California's population in 1850 was 90,000. Today, almost 40,000,000. A huge increase in infrastructure, badly managed land, BBQs, dropped cigarettes and mostly arson are to blame. Not a slight warming of about 1.0C.

Wildfires are just wildfires until they burn out the rich folks then it's climate change.

makes sense. Santa ana wind season used to be just the fall. not the winter. why is it so difficult for people to understand this?

It is actually more of a function of population density, as a large portion of fires are the direct result of human interaction with the environment. Dry periods, like the infamous Dust Bowl, have been a catalyst as well, allowing for our of season fires. The indigenous peoples in California also did a much better job of forest management than the Government does today. There weren't nearly enough prescribed burns or fuel clearing ops during the last 2 wet years.
