I'm seeing a lot of posts about how this mentality is not exclusive to black people. While that may be true, it is most damaging to black people given the existing state of wealth, or the lack thereof, in most black communities. The consumer mindset feeds the wealth of other communities.

I was told; " Name brand clothing and fine jewelry don't make you a man. "

This is a quality video that should be shared to everybody. This phenomenon does not affect only the black people though, it is the natural instinct of all human. We all have to outgrow, unlearn the need to keep spending to be happy.

Sometimes being able to afford convenience in life is what makes one happy. Being rich is overrated

Rich people aren’t rich. Most of them are leveraged so deeply into debt they will never get out. Tax loopholes require you to spend or lose it to the government. The system is designed to hold you in debt. You can’t escape it. If you want to be rich get comfortable with owning nothing and leveraging debit until you die.
