"Wish servers" 💀
34 Kommentare

"Haha, i'm 600 IQ, I wish for negative 3 wishes to cause overflow!" "Ok, you have negative 3 wishes now" "Huh, but i thought it was going to -" "Shut up. YOU are the genie now. YOU must go grant 3 wishes. What did you think negative wishes actually meant, bud?"

Why bother? After establishing that it's 2 bits and can overflow, he knew how to reset his wishes to 3 whenever he wanted.

grammar teeth grinding intensifies

Imagine making this animation hoping that both of the coders familiar with unsigned int overflow bugs would see it

"Can I wish for less wishes?" "No, but you can wish for fewer wishes." "Okay, first wish: don't be a dick."

I'd still wish for the ability to solve any problem in any way & at any rate regardless of the laws of physics.

@skdh 2⁶⁴ − 1 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 - 1... Disturbing that I clearly understand this… 🤣🤣

Congratulations, you have negative wishes, which means you have to become a genie and repay those wishes, which are accumulating interest. Welcome to the Union buddy.

What about memory corruption, there would be immediate overwriting from the original storage location forward. Blue genie should have become a blue screen of death. This got me hot and bothered in both ways.

Yeah. I thought also his first wish could be catastrophic if the programmer was half way decent. I would have made an if then check for passing zero. His first wish should have been explicitly to change the function for wish number checking and also for the datatype. Also he assumes there is a wish server. That actually might have been my first wish. Then the function wish. Then the kill strike

This guy is the Ghandi of genie wishes. Time to nuke the world with wishes, I guess.

I just wanna know why we’re in a bathtub rubbing on a lamp ?

Zero is less than one so by wishing for less than one you're at zero so by having no wishes left you have completed the less wishes clause by having zero so you would just get nothing and just waste your time and the genies time

Need to specify unsigned 64 bit integer If the server side chose signed then you can have negative wishes

"Okay... Now you owe me, the genie, two wishes."

Gaming the system via software dev is fun, but now imagine the genie is an AI

Jokes on you, you didn't specified signed or unsigned integer.

A smarter genie would've told him "no, you can't wish for less wishes". Because wishes are countable.

So it's a not-null two-bit datatype?

*Fewer* wishes.

Math: genius. Usage of “less” instead of “fewer”: retarded.

I think he just broke the genie😂

That would be "fewer" wishes, as wishes are a countable item.

Congrats you win the internet🤣

If the wish sever is using signed integer to count wishes it’ll trigger UB, which can easily lead to nasal demons. I’m not sure if nasal demons are in the mood for granting wishes.

Actually that’s an under flow

🤣 This is hilarious!

Finally being a code monkey helps someone out. LOL

@SullyMichaelvan engineering man!

1. This is why you use signed types 2. It’s “fewer wishes”, not “less”

Now we have the origin story of

Careful what you wish for those servers might come with lag.

@JoelDalais 3 wishes

@TheSpiffingBrit if he had a genie lamp:
