Our Baba He would make the joke and join us in the laughter. That was our Baba Buhari. Behind the image of a firm and disciplined leader was a man of warmth, humility and quiet humour. He took us not just as aides, but as his children. He guided us with a fatherly hand. Baba didn’t need to raise his voice to command respect, his character did that on its own. We will miss his presence. We will miss his words , which are always measured, wise and rooted in truth. We will miss his leadership — calm in chaos, firm in storms and always anchored in principle. For those of us who walked closely with him, who learned at his feet, who saw the man beyond the title, his memory is a personal treasure. His family released the following statement: “It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. Let’s pray for his family that God will comfort them n Jesus name Amen 👇 Read from his family The funeral Mass for my 5 year old son, Micah, was the Catholic Church at her best. We had so many priests, family, and friends present from all around the country. We had the most beautiful music provided that helped lift our grieving hearts with gratitude and praise. We had Micah’s Godmother doing the first reading, and his Godfather presiding over the Mass. We had the blessing of being able to use one of the most beautiful parishes in the area. What was supposed to feel like a funeral liturgy felt more like an ordination Mass. While our sorrow is so real, the joy of offering our son to the service of the Lord in Heaven for his new mission makes our cup overflow. Micah is not dead, he is alive in Christ! On behalf of my family, THANK YOU to everyone who has shown us the love of God through your kindness, support, and prayers. It has been tremendously healing for us. We are forever changed. We will keep you in our prayers for the rest of our lives. “We do not pretend that life is all beauty. We are aware of darkness and sin, of poverty and pain. I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Sandy Gall, a distinguished British journalist, author, and steadfast friend of Afghanistan. He was not only a close friend of the late Commander Ahmad Shah Massoud and his family, but also the author of Commander Massoud’s biography, drawn from the Commander’s own diaries and personal accounts. His work preserved the legacy of Afghanistan’s National Hero for the world to witness. Ahmad Massoud and I had the honor of meeting him for the last time this past February in Kent. It was a profoundly emotional encounter, filled with reflection, warmth, and shared memories. We did not know then that it would be our final meeting. His wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support for the people of Afghanistan left a lasting impression on both of us. We are privileged to have called him and his family our dear friends.
