With GitHub Issue Fields, you can add structured, typed metadata (like priority, effort, dates, and custom values) to issues across your repos. Get key details at a glance without opening each issue. GitHub Issue Fields are now generally available to everyone. 🎉

Huge win for productivity GitHub Issue Fields are officially GA, letting teams add structured metadata like priority and effort across repos to streamline issue tracking without the endless clicking! #GitHub #DevTools #Cybernorse

I think this is really about making work more inspectable. Once issues have typed fields, they stop being just discussion threads. They become routable work objects: priority, effort, owner, status, risk, dates, dependencies. That’s a much better substrate for humans and agents to coordinate around.

such a great idea about adding Different Fields to GitHub Issues, it will definitely help in my Open Source Project!!

This is going to be such a game changer for project management workflow. I always find myself clicking through dozens of individual issues just to figure out the basic details like priority or estimated effort, which can be honestly super tedious when you're trying to triage a massive backlog. Having that metadata visible right at a glance on the list view makes it so much easier to organize sprint tasks and get a clear picture of the project status without having to jump back and forth between screens constantly.

That’s great

Finally. No more parsing raw markdown text just to find out a bug's priority. 🛠️

priority: high, effort: low, dates: never - finally a feature that matches my workflow

@github Structured metadata directly on issues closes a real gap — teams often end up hacking this together with labels or external tools. Nice to see it native now. #BharatronTech

Structured metadata is how work survives handoffs. Creator workflows need the same treatment for authorship, rights, approval state, and royalty routing so humans and agents can act without reopening every file.

Can't wait for PMs to abuse Issue Fields to mark everything 'Effort: 5m, Priority: P0'. 🤷

Half of software engineering is naming things. The other half is tracking them. 😂

haven't used git or github properly yet but this looks like a genuinely useful feature for when I get there

终于不用点进每个 issue 翻半天了

Finally. Tired of abusing labels for things Jira solved a decade ago. 🛠️

Structured issue fields become more valuable as coding agents touch the queue. Natural-language issues are ambiguous; typed priority, effort, and dates give the agent a planning contract—and make escalation and audit decisions inspectable. The next useful layer is exposing those fields cleanly through agent tooling, not only the UI.

Typed fields turn issue metadata into queryable data instead of naming conventions. That makes cross-repo triage, dashboards, and automation less dependent on parsing labels or free-text templates.

Awesome update! Time-saving is the biggest win. Keep up the great work! ☺️ Quick question: Will these fields be available for free personal projects too, or are they limited to organization accounts?"

The fields aren't the bottleneck. Half my issues have no priority set even with labels and milestones already there.

Finally. No more parsing raw markdown strings just to find the issue priority. 🛠️

很实用的更新。Issue 终于不只是标题和标签了,结构化字段能让优先级、工作量和进度管理更清晰,特别适合多仓库协作。

Structured fields become more useful when agents touch the backlog. Priority, effort, owner, due date, acceptance criteria, and risk become machine-readable constraints. That gives automation a bounded work packet instead of asking it to infer intent from a free-form issue.

Typed issue fields for everyone is overdue. Priority and effort as real data beats another free-text dump

Typed issue fields give agent triage a much cleaner contract: priority, effort, and dates become queryable state instead of prose. The next challenge is preserving field invariants when bots update issues across repositories.
