🐘❤️ This rescue gave this elephant a second chance. Rescuers found the elephant with its trunk tightly wrapped in vines and wire. The injury was severe, and the poor animal was clearly in pain. The team carefully removed everything that was cutting into the trunk and treated the wound with medicine. At first, the damage looked so serious that it seemed like the elephant might lose part of its trunk. Thankfully, their quick work helped save it. An elephant depends on its trunk for almost everything, from eating and drinking to breathing and protecting itself. Saving it meant giving this gentle giant a real chance to recover. Central to the successful rewilding of both species is gradual acceptance by the locals. Our elephant orphans hone their survival skills over years through face-to-face interactions with wild elephants, and we tend to find herds are accepting of their presence. Rhinos are different. Deeply territorial, they don't welcome newcomers. Our rhino orphans learn through scent, dung piles and the slow process of being recognised by the wild rhinos around them. Every day, dawn to dusk, their Keepers walk them along the trails and dung piles left by their wild neighbours. The Halre Ritual of the Kasnazani Kurdish Dervishes. This ritual, performed by Kurdish dervishes belonging to the Kasnazani branch of the Qadiriyya order, is known as "Jahri (vocal) Dhikr" or "Halre." The Kurdish dervishes stand shoulder to shoulder to form a large circle and, to the rhythm of the def, rhythmically nod their heads up and down. While these movements may appear to be a hypnotic dance from the outside, they actually help the dervishes forget the world and enter a deep state of trance (wajd).
