With standards in reading, maths and science going down, it felt as though the only thing increasing under the Tories was the disadvantage gap. A tale as old as time - the Tories look after their own, Labour drives up standards for all our children.

No. A tale as old as time is that @Conservatives always focus on academic rigour. England now ranks 11th internationally for math, up from 27th in ‘09; and in reading and science, 13th for both, up vs 25th and 16th in ‘09. Terrific progress. Hopefully you won’t screw it up!

The Labour plan is to make the “ disadvantage gap “ look better by ensuring the standard of the top drops down , but will not do anything to improve those at the bottom And so nobody benefits - but rather nobody do well , than see your failures shown up when the lowest achieves don’t improve
