When watching the original series I remember him trying to bend some of the elements and just couldn't. When he did receive instructions he could "somewhat" do it but yeah, it wasn't very stable like in the clip. In the original series each nation had to understand their element. Understand what gave it power. Biggest example was Zuko. Zuko used his rage to fire bend. After he gave it up and went to train Aang it became weak and to the point where he couldn't even bend fire properly. They had to receive instructions from the dragons. Korra as a child was bending the elements like it was super easy. Like there was no need to understand it. Iroh even taught Zuko about the four nations because it was important to understand them and their power. Avatar "fans" seem to forget that the original series had a bunch of people who studied real work fighting styles based off the elements and animated them. They even studied different cultures to create the 4 nations. Korra and from how it looks in Seven Havens, these people do not have the same love the original writers had for that kind of world.

The avatar never magically bends elements. The only time that ever happened with no experience is the avatar state. Aang always had to at least see and understand the concepts before even starting to use an element.

Are we really going to forget about Korra, who could practically use three elements instantly? Pavi, just like Korra back then, only uses the elements but not even a basic understanding of the fundamentals or even mastered them.
