They’re actually huge. This is what a wolf looks like next to an adult husky: Literally makes it look like a puppy.

Wolves vary in size depending on the subspecies. The gray wolf (Canis lupus), one of the most well-known subspecies, can reach the following sizes: Body length (excluding the tail): between 1.2 to 1.6 meters. Tail length: between 30 to 50 cm. Height at the shoulders: between 65 to 80 cm. They are so beautiful btw. 🐺

Yuki was a wolfdog who gained fame during the final season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” in 2019. He was taken to a kill shelter by his owner after he got too big to handle. Shy Wolf Sanctuary Education and Experience Center in Collier County, Florida rescued him and took care of him until he passed away from blood cancer at the age of 13. Yuki was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a blood cancer, three years ago. He was 87.5% gray wolf, 8.6% Siberian husky, and 3.9% German shepherd. Yuki was twice as heavy and twice as big as an ordinary wolfdog, weighing about 120 pounds and standing at 5.4 feet tall. Beyond his physical attributes, Yuki's gentle and affectionate nature endeared him to volunteers, visitors, and the wider public. His story brought attention to the challenges of responsible wolfdog ownership and the importance of supporting wolfdog sanctuaries like Shy Wolf. Yuki's legacy extends beyond his life, as he continues to serve as an ambassador for wolf conservation, educating the public about these wild animals and promoting understanding and appreciation for their place in the ecosystem. Be honest. If you saw a trapped wolf, would you try to help it?

A husky next to a wolf. 🤯 My entire life I thought they were the size of dogs. I’ve been heavily mistaken.

Wolves howl to communicate with their pack, helping them locate each other over long distances, strengthen social bonds, and defend their territory from rival packs. The howling also helps coordinate group activities like hunting.
