What's even better is when you come home to someone messing around, they don't hear you enter, they don't hear the pets, they don't hear you pick up the pet, pet them, and set them down, fill the pet water bowl in the kitchen, take out a can of food for the pet, place it in the bowl unopened because you think you hear voices where none should be, stand in the open doorway to the bedroom for a minute, see the bed you made that morning now with an unmade corner, pause realize the voices weren't the neighbors, walk back out of the house after standing in the open doorway long enough to hear what was said about you, long enough to hear and recognize one of your 'best friends' voices... long enough to see what was going on with your own eyes... unseen by either of them... Open and close the entry door which you do quietly by nature enough they somehow don't hear it, Walk down the stairs, out the front door of the house, Go back downtown. Treat yourself to a meal and a movie. Return home that night, and change your entire schedule the next day after staying up all night doing school work you had gone home early to do by switching shifts with a coworker... and discovered all you needed to know about the state of your relationship. Never speaking a word to the cheater. Making your plan to leave without confrontation without fall out for others. And as if you had planned it perfectly the window opens when that 'best friend' visits the state you moved to for the get away, the three of you go out to dinner together, and they accidentally play footsie under the table - with you before each other as if you are still stupid - the friend goes back to their hotel after the meal - you tell the person "I want a divorce, now you can pursue _____ without me in the way." And that is how you get away knowing what they had planned, and why you had to get out. Strange word, plan. Stranger when the person is studying to be an exotic animal Vet, and there was this one time something VERY strange happened to you and you have flashes of memory of them you shouldn't have afterwards, and you piece together what actually happened to you. Everyone has to decide based on the people involved, how to navigate discovering a cheater. Be safe, and don't believe you'll manage it on your own. Tell someone You Trust with your life NOT to tell the person you found out.
