Today in history ... This dark spot along the winding Nyanga–Ruwangwe Road is where 89 young learners and their teachers lost their lives on August 3, 1991, in what remains Zimbabwe’s worst road accident — the Nyanga Bus Disaster. They were returning to Regina Coeli School after a sports outing at St Killian’s Mission when tragedy struck on these treacherous slopes. Today, we remember the innocent lives cut short, the families forever changed, and the nation that mourned together. May their souls continue to rest in eternal peace. 🕯️ Lest we forget. 📹: Wilson Tawanda Kakurira @sharpshooterzw

My thoughts are with everyone at Glen View Home Industries who lost property in the fire reportedly caused by an electrical fault. I can’t imagine how it feels to lose everything, especially without insurance cover; like most of them, in this harsh economic environment. In a country like Zimbabwe where the system has totally failed its people, it is heartbreaking to watch hardworking men and women watch their dreams turn to ashes, with no safety net; but just tears, smoke, and silence from the authorities. To everyone affected at Glen View Home Industries; your pain is unimaginable, but so is your strength. May this loss be the beginning of an even greater rise. You are not alone.

The entire community of Fort Providence has been ordered to evacuate due to wildfires burning in the Northwest Territories of Canada. The community of roughly 700 people got the order this morning at 8:57 AM, and are to relocate to Hay River. The fire ran 11km overnight and is now 2km from the community. Crews have been unable to attack the fire directly due to activity and aircraft have not been able to drop directly on the fire due to visibility. Structure protection measures are underway. Warm weather and low relative humidities have caused increased activity on wildfires in northern canada. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of Fire activity in the NWTs.

Princess Zahra Aga Khan, daughter of Prince Karim Aga Khan, concluded her three-day visit to Karachi and departed. On behalf of the Sindh Government, Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah bid farewell to the Princess at the airport, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other dignitaries. During the meeting, Princess Zahra Aga Khan expressed her gratitude for the support and hospitality extended by the Government of Sindh during her visit. And, the Provincial Minister Syed appreciated the Aga Khan family’s commendable contributions in education, health, and other sectors, stating that their association with Pakistan strengthens bilateral ties. This footage shows the size, scale, and severity of the Fire weather event that took place on the Deer Creek Fire in La Sal, Utah. One individual said they believed a skid plate off a Toyota Tacoma was hurled and hit their fire apparatus. The shear size and velocity of this vortex that came through the fire area is staggering. This is Mother Nature at her most unpredictable and awe inspiring state. All while wildfire is ripping across the landscape. The fire has grown to 11,044 acres and firefighters have been able to reach 7% containment after regrouping post wind event. Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 4 and firefighters have been able to punch in line and complete strategic firing operations to gain some ground on containment. Today, I visited the community of Commodore in Linstead, St. Catherine, to personally extend my deepest condolences to the families affected by the senseless and brutal attack that claimed the lives of four innocent Jamaicans. This is a tragedy that has left an entire community shaken. I met with relatives and loved ones who are grieving deeply, parents, children, and elders whose lives have been torn apart. The government will mobilize support for the victims and their families, including counselling and any practical assistance during this painful time. Too often, public discussions around crime forget the victims. Today, I want to remind Jamaica that they must remain at the centre of our national conscience. The children who lost a mother, the grandmother who lost her grandson, the father who lost his son, they deserve justice, compassion, and a safer country. To those who continue to sow fear and violence, we will find you, and justice will be served. Let us, as a nation, work together to restore peace and protect every Jamaican life.
