Just the way we have “blue ticks” and “verified badges” on social media, shouldn’t we have “verified tick marks” for restaurants on food delivery apps that are following top hygiene standards? Most Indians care a lot about the hygiene of the kitchens at home, but we don’t have any idea about the hygiene of kitchens we order from in the food delivery apps. Restaurants show us the most beautiful pictures of their food on the delivery apps, then why do we often get worms, plastic and metal pieces in our food? As consumers, we should keep try ordering from restaurants which have HACCP (food safety certification) and FSSAI (hygiene rating) certifications. I was happy to see food ordering platform, EatSure , share there actual pictures of their kitchen from their internal audits. This is a welcome step and I believe it should be mandatory for restaurants to not only share pictures of their food, but also share pictures of the kitchens. Today is Right to Information (RTI) Day.
