Pierre Poilievre says Canadians are too obsessed with race because of “wokeism” and agrees with Jordan Peterson that Canada essentially had to invent and import racism because it didn’t exist here before recent decades. Canada is so fucked if this guy forms government.

Throughout the interview, you can see how Poilievre has deceptive but effective stories and cherrypicked stats that serve his agenda. He’ll fabricate a narrative that government spending is what’s driving up home prices, to distract from developer and speculator profiteering.

It’s funny to hear a politician suggest that housing should be dirt cheap because Canada has a lot of land — and that it’s just government making it so expensive. There’s a reason 90% of Canadians are within 100 miles of the US border.

Pierre Poilievre says Justin Trudeau is an “authoritarian socialist” that wants to control every aspect of Canadians’ lives and all of the industries in the country. You don’t have to like Trudeau to know that’s complete bullshit.

One thing I do find interesting is that Poilievre has taken the lesson that many say centre/centre-left parties need to learn: to stop watering down their agendas to try to attract those who don’t agree with them. He says he’ll be shamelessly right wing in government.

Poilievre says that once the Conservatives take power, his supporters must remain engaged to push not just federal lawmakers, but those in other levels of government, to adopt his extreme right-wing agenda. Companies will also be expected to sell a deregulatory agenda.

Canada’s climate-denying Conservatives are explicitly making the case that generative AI’s massive energy use is not only a good thing, but provides a big new market for oil and gas that they intend to exploit — while throwing in nuclear as the greenwashing piece.

Finally, Pierre Poilievre thanks Jordan Peterson for standing up for “free speech,” which for Peterson started with refusing to respect his students’ choice of pronouns and has escalated from there.
