The development will bring around 15% of 15.9 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas to Australia under WA gas reservation laws, thus securing large amounts of domestic gas for decades. 2. That these people rejected nuclear energy, a proven source of GHG emissions free energy and in doing so have advocated for gas energy to be used for decades. 3. That Woodside is one of the highest taxpayers in Australia, recently ranked the 5th highest 4. That the gas industry paid over $17b in taxes in Australia last year alone 5. That the gas industry directly and indirectly employees close to 1/4 of a million people in Australia, all of who pay tax, to further benefit our economy. Closing of this industry would result in a catastrophic collapse of our economy. 6. That we import large quantities of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel. Without these imports our economy would crash. The people who advocate for a cessation of gas exports conveniently forget this fact. 7. That our gas exports positively impact the lives of hundreds of millions of people globally, through availability of cheap and reliable energy. We have a humanitarian obligation to support this.
