Why would anyone leave cloth in between their bearings? That would lead to slippage, displacement, etc. Not to mention that the cloth will bake onto the metals and bond with debris, rust, grease, oil, and form a hardened crust there. I would never do that for the sole reason of how imprecise it is. Anything like that affects other things too. The cloth is thicker in some spots than other spots. This will lead to uneven wear, poor alignment, and more likely to occur is a WOBBLE.

This is DANGEROUS. You are putting lateral stresses on the band saw that it WAS NOT designed to handle. If that thing shatters, you’re having a BAD day. For what? To save yourself a few minutes? The minutes you lose bleeding out are going to more than make up for your “time savings”.

It’s also all about keeping your fingers intact

I hate to tell you but the craftsmanship of most of these may look tricky but is not high level. Gaps and poor nail placement, dangerous tips and the grain patterns aren’t being matched most places.

When I watch this, I keep wanting to count all my fingers.
