“So many baristas rely on SNAP and Medicaid. Why does a multibillion-dollar company have employees subsidized by the government?” asks Starbucks Workers United national spokesperson Michelle Eisen. Starbucks baristas launched the largest unfair-labor-practice strike in the company’s history this morning. More than a thousand workers in over 40 cities picketed outside their stores, protesting Starbucks’ refusal to return to the bargaining table with real proposals.
