It’s fantastic to see a safe space being created for men to open up about fatherhood and masculinity. From 6th April, this government is making Paternity Leave and Unpaid Parental Leave available from day one of employment. By supporting dads to be able to be present with their new child, we’re supporting mums too.

Paid period leave means that all working women should get 1-2 days leave during their periods and it should be paid, only then they will be able to take leave, otherwise, no woman will ever want to take leave thinking that her salary will be deducted...Here, I requested more than 40 Prime Ministers, Presidents and Ministers of the country to implement paid leave in their countries too..."

Losing a baby is one of the most heartbreaking and challenging experiences any parent can face, and they deserve our full support. Sinn Féin Minister Caoimhe Archibald is bringing forward paid leave for parents who experience a miscarriage, coming into effect from April. We are also working to introduce a baby loss certificate scheme and paid leave for parents whose babies require neonatal care. We will continue working to ensure parents receive the support they need and deserve.
