We wanted to show the performance and the insane power of the Static Hermes native FFI. But we don't yet support the all language features needed to compile React Native (soon though!), so we improvised. We imported the bindings for DearImGui (a popular C++ imperative game UI library that renders meshes), and Sokol (an amazing lightweight 3D backend in C) and wrote a small demo. "Imperative UI" means that the entire UI and the state of the screen is recreated on every frame, which suits our purposes to demonstrate SH very well. The demo runs 100% compiled native code. JavaScript runs in every frame and recreates the entire state of the screen. It is portable to all platforms, though the screen layout is not optimized for phone. We wrote the demo in C++ and in JS, to compare, and they both ran with the same performance. In the attached videos you can see the demo running at the stable screen refresh rate - 120Hz on my Mac, 60Hz on a old Moto G5 phone. It includes some widgets, an n-body simulation of planets, a playable game demo, etc.

Finally! I added multiplayer to my browser-based WebGL card game, Summoners. Multiplayer is a really common request. You pick your deck and then send the URL to a friend. They can join even if they don't have an account. It's free to play and live on the site now. I built the multiplayer system using websockets and Fly.io servers. It's working great so far but drop any bugs in the Summoners.io discord. 🙏 🪄 Happy gaming ⚔️

🛜 Remember LAN parties? I do LAN means "local area network" and it was essentially the internet but locally only in your home or company in the late 90s and early 2000s So you could connect to other computers to play games or share files, kinda like Airdrop but via a cable and 30 years ago, people would even meet up at some person's house and bring their entire computer (back then a big PC tower, CRT monitor, keyboard and mouse) and everyone would connect to each other Which is were you'd get all the WaReZ games, MP3 music, etc. cause nobody had internet yet, or if you did it was super slow, so LAN was much faster to transfer files I know Windows 3.11 did have support for LAN networking via NetBEUI and it "should" work, but of course on I don't have a network cable that goes to an Ethernet network hub to other computers But...we could just act like we do? I asked AI to build a virtual Ethernet hub (a hub routes traffic) that acts like a local LAN, but instead of connecting physical computers in a home, it connects other browser sessions on the internet that have running Windows 3.11 open at any time, and with DHCP it can assign an IP to every browser session dynamically, so they literally all become part of a local LAN on the internet! It runs on a virtual NE2000 network card that sends its network data not to a network cable but via Websockets to wss://pieter.com And it works, well kinda, I just started and its' not perfect, but I'm able to PING in MS-DOS from one tab to the other! Next is setting it up inside Windows 3.11!

Holy shit, just had a feel-the-AGI moment. Symphony was running overnight, working on merging a bunch of PRs, and it encountered some extra issues in the codebase that were related to PR but not directly applicable. It created a backlog issue in Linear and documented it. 😳 What's even more amazing about that is now I can simply drag that issue into the "To Do" column in Linear, and Symphony will automatically pick it up, start working on it, and ship it.

Claude Code on desktop just added an embedded loop that can run your dev server, view the app, review local changes, and watch pull requests until they merge. It can now preview a running app inside the desktop UI while it iterates on fixes. It can also monitor CI for an open PR and either fix failures or merge when checks go green. Earlier “agentic coding” workflows usually bounced between a terminal, a browser, and GitHub, so the model could not directly see what the app rendered or stay attached to CI results without manual babysitting. The new server preview flow starts and stops dev servers from a Preview control, shows the app in an embedded browser, reads logs, and can interact with the page to verify changes. That closes a common gap where a model edits code but cannot reliably confirm the UI and runtime behavior match the intent. The local “Review code” step runs before pushing, and it leaves inline comments on the diff so basic bugs and risky changes get caught earlier. For PR monitoring, the desktop app will track status and CI checks, and it can use auto-fix to attempt repairs and auto-merge to land the PR once checks pass, using GitHub tooling under the hood. Session mobility adds a /desktop command to move a CLI session into the desktop app, and sessions can be pushed to the cloud to resume from web or phone.

MEGA update: 🥳 IT WORKS: we now have a working dial up internet connection on a virtual Windows 3.11 computer running inside a browser over a virtual modem that talks via Websockets to a PPP daemon! So you can open open the computer, browse the web and even open the page you're on itself again at or chat inside mIRC chat app on or browse gopher:// or whatever you like to do Probably the nerdiest challenge I've ever taken on for the totally arbitrary reason that it seemed completely impossible to do this but we did it (now need to test it more so that it works with 250 parallel users at same time, but the prototype works now, so if you ask why it's not live yet) James Baicoianu, probably one of 2 people in the world who knows how to do this, helped fix my setup and created a virtual dial up internet provider for me that we can dial in to Somehow my mouse doesn't work yet, so I had to do it with the keyboard but here we run Winsock to dial up on a virtual modem that runs then emulates a virtual dial up ISP over Websockets [Next todo] - Fix the mouse - Make the 90mb emulated file smaller - See if it doesn't die with 10 or 50 parallel users - Speed up the Em-Dosbox emulator a bit so it's more usable

The new Codex is another jump in what agents will look like for knowledge workers.
