Video of the George Washington Bridge shows loose cement and clear instability. The structure looks worn down and unreliable right over heavy traffic. This is another example of New York City infrastructure in decline. Drivers pass under it daily like it’s normal, but it’s not. New York City is dealing with failing roads, bridges, and systems that are not being properly maintained. The George Washington Bridge is a key part of that. Decades of neglect have led to visible crumbling and safety concerns that should have been addressed long ago. Tax dollars are supposed to keep this infrastructure solid, yet here we are with pieces coming loose while people commute.

Industry and governments have spent years selling the lie that natural gas is a “bridge to the future.” The bridge is burning. Some questions have come up on the launch bridge. It is in good shape and we will reuse. Three cranes are positioned to help lift the almost four-million-pound launch bridge and the two-million-pound launch table out of our flame trench and onto self-propelled modular transporters. Last night, the launch bridge was removed. The launch table is up next. Enjoy the crane ballet.

The deliberate over-complication of this project has frankly been stunning. ➡️ Let's remind ourselves it has now been 9 YEARS since £700,000 was given by our Conservative Government to local Labour-run authorities for a feasibility study. ➡️ It then took Labour 4 years to produce a report which concluded: ‘We need a bridge’. ➡️ Funds were then allocated for this project in 2021 by the previous Conservative government. ➡️ Yet local authorities have sat on their hands and allowed the cost of this project to spiral from £3 million to £13 million. And that’s just for the bridge itself, with the total cost of the scheme when you include plans for pedestrian and cycle paths and more road crossings totalling £24 million ➡️ They are now saying the bridge will not be completed until 2027 - 11 YEARS since money was first given!! 🤔 For reference, the Prince of Wales Bridge — the Second longest bridge in the UK — took just 6 and a half years to plan and build.
