Melchengam Reserve Forest in Tiruvannamalai district shall be developed as Tamil Nadu's first Biodiversity Heritage Forest in about 1000 Hectares at a cost of Rs 10 Crores. It is an incredible honor to be recognized yet again. In 2022, we received the award for the in-depth #CrimeWatch show around rhino and elephant poaching. I a truly humbled to receive this distinction again - for, according to SANParks, “ the outstanding effort dedicated to covering stories about conservation and safety and security in Table Mountain National Park and Kruger National Park.” This award is not only a reflection of my efforts but also the support and collaboration of many who share a commitment to conservation and the preservation of our natural heritage. I dedicate this award to all those working tirelessly to protect and nurture our environment for future generations and to my team at #CrimeWatch on @etv and eNCA I am deeply appreciative of this accolade. Ganapati Bappa Moraya🌺 Let’s Celebrate an Eco-Friendly Ganeshotsav! 🌱🙏 Glad to inaugurate the 'Maha Ganesh Murti Workshop 2026', an eco-friendly initiative for making idols from Shadu clay, organised by the Environment and Climate Change Department. It is a matter of great pride to have made a Ganesh Murti with my own hands using natural Shadu clay and to see students come together in large numbers to create their own Murtis was truly special. Their creativity and devotion have not only brought beautiful Murtis to life but have also conveyed a strong message of environmental conservation. It is equally special that this initiative has been recorded in the Guinness World Records. Ganapati is the God of wisdom and every auspicious occasion begins by invoking Bappa. Ganeshotsav is not only a celebration of faith and tradition but also an opportunity to reconnect with the Panchmahabhutas, nature and the soil from which these Murtis are made. Our faith in Bappa is deeply rooted in devotion and emotion. Let that faith also inspire us to care for the environment. An appeal to the people of Maharashtra to choose Ganesh Murtis made from clay and encourage others to do the same. This would never have been, were it not for lives saved many years ago: Orphaned elephants rescued and raised in our care, many with near fatal, and lifelong physical injuries. But here they are, thanks to the daily support of our Keepers and a global family of foster parents and donors. Hundreds of Minnesota businesses—from breakfast spots to bike shops to breweries—are shutting down Friday as part of a general strike pushing ICE out of the state. The "Day of Truth and Freedom" includes protests, prayers, and fasting, organized by a coalition of clergy and supported by labor organizers and the entire Minneapolis City Council. From tiny orphans in need to wild-living families, we support elephants every step of their lives. Elephant conservation is not the work of a moment, but a monumental, multi-generational commitment. The lifespan of an elephant mirrors our own. As we nurture the orphans of today, we are working on the bigger picture — securing entire landscapes, safeguarding wild lives, and tackling root threats like poaching, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict — to secure a future for all elephants. To date, we have rescued over 300 orphaned elephants and welcomed 77 wild grandbabies of our Orphans' Project. Our fast growing elephant family tree is a testament to the success of this 'big picture' conservation work.
