Teachers have to want to do this. Many teachers see themselves as content experts first, and stepping away from the front of the room challenges this belief.

Yep. This is the biggest challenge I face in the shift to student-led. If teachers think their true value in a classroom is being the expert, they design teacher-centered lessons where they spend a lot of time transferring info.

This is great information for teachers to know before they are teaching in a classroom. #WmPennEd

This was great knowledge to gain!! #WmPennEd

This is a perfect explanation to why teachers need to utilize FLIPPING THEIR CLASSROOM! #WmPennEd #FlippedClassroom

yep, just wrote a blogpost about this exact thing! #AIinEducation #blendchat #edchat

You are hitting the nail on the head here in so many ways! A challenge I find as a HS educator is not having consistent tech in the classroom. Comps are not always available and sometimes our wifi is spotty! But, I agree - we should not be sending home challenging tasks!

I remember having the same conversations when the internet was first becoming accessible to students! As educators we must learn to work along side our students to use the technology in a meaningful way and structure learning experiences appropriately.

Perhaps students turn to [the current scary new tech thing] during independent practice bc they are seeking an 'expert in the front of the room' for whatever reason (comfort, low self-efficacy, routine).
