Do not take China's internal publications at face value and equivalent tu US/CAN/UK etc... publications. Never. It's much more difficult to measure up and appreciate than running acceptance counts.

Now list the amount of papers proving a negative. I am very curious how that would look like.

I see the effect of China’s explosion of fly by night journal mills. Is that what you see?

The bulk of Chinese journals are notorious for low-quality, high-volume articles. Chinese leadership is a little too aware of this metric and happily games the system, so numbers out of context warrant a truckload of salt. That being said, things are undeniably moving.
