Same phenomenon with black parents telling their kids that because they're black they'll be treated differently. They get programmed to think everyone and everything is racist.

I also think this is a feminine trait. I know few men who would easily fall victim to this trick. They may even find it a challenge to succeed despite the setback. I’d like to see some studies done on men.

I cite this experiment SO OFTEN when discussing racism. Essentially you will understand your experience via whatever lens you choose to view it. If you look for it, you will find it.

I called this a long time ago. When you're told everyone is racist, and then ANY time someone wrongs you, it must be because they are racist and don't like black people.

TTRUE! Had an African American client years ago & we always worked well together. They were promoted to manager in a Fortune 500 co even though they didn’t have a college degree (co policy). Very big change in attitude when Obama was elected. They perceived racism everywhere.

I’m challenged to see how we recover from this pathology.

I came to the same conclusion years ago but couldn't articulate it as well as @KonstantinKisin has. This 💯 happens. I've seen it in people who were otherwise happy until they were told they were disadvantaged.

As someone who was heavily scarred from severe acne, it never affected my confidence. That confidence and persistence allowed me to fall in love and marry the most beautiful women I had ever seen. 44 years ago now ❤️

Dude, but you literally altered their reality without letting them know… that’s manipulation! Do a study where they see themselves in the mirror with the make-up on first. Let’s see those results. Results of actual reality. Without that study, any conclusions are guessing.

The Oprah Show did a very similar thing years ago with similar results. The participants thought that people around them were staring and judging them for their facial deformities when the makeup artist had actually removed them.

@GJohnGarrett Mindset is very important. I think that is why female elite athletes tend to thrive in the workplace.

Yes. I have been saying exactly this for many years. I went to university as an older adult and was shocked at how young females would constantly be told how oppressed they are and that 50% of the population was out to get them. They then carry that throughout their lives and buy a lot of cats.

Stack Overflow accused contributors of being sexist and racist because more blacks and women said they felt hostility in their survey. There wasn't a single example of this racist/sexist behavior. They accidentally revealed blacks and women find oppression when there is none.

I am interested to see more of this interview. His point is focused and spiritually and emotionally correct: people can be trained to believe that they are victims and to perceive the actions and comments of others to support their victim status. Fascinating experiment.

1/I would like to see the research paper on this so called experiment. Because I find it incredibly hard to believe that none of these women came by a mirror, a window or something before going into the job interview. Especially with a made up scar you would have the tendency...

I long ago came to the conclusion that a victimhood identity is the most self defeating attitude a person can have.
