As a Smashing Pumpkins fan and Christian, I love this. I have memories of Stryper as a kid. I was born in 77. But I don’t even remember learning that they were Christians until 1990-something.

A great guest for Billy to have on...another underrated singer/guitarist who is known to take control of his band. Looking forward to this one.

Great episode! Just finished it. I've been a fan of Stryper since the 80's. Singing about Jesus or not, doesn't matter to me one way or the other. Stryper is a great band. Always have been, always will be.

the entire reason i found stryper is bc they sang about Jesus.

Hard to say, but I don't think so. Micheal is a great song writer and they created some great songs. Their rise came at a time of all the big hair bands, and their fall came at the same time as all the others.

Stryper was always derided when I was a kid, most notably by people who watched Beavis & Butthead without realizing that Mike Judge was picking on the people hating on Stryper. Anyone who knew music was amazed by their art. Thanks for sharing this!

Love this! As a young teenager, I had posters on my wall, like most Gen-X girls then, but instead of Tiger Beat, I had Stryper, Cru, Dio and even Robert Smith (don't judge 😉) I didn't hide my love of Jesus then, and never have. Thank you, guys! God bless you and keep you 🙏🏻

I feel like in terms of commercial success, it both raised their floor and lowered their ceiling. Perhaps the same could be said of King's X. Both bands deserve much more widespread acclaim. Sweet has always been an astounding musical talent.
