i'd be very annoyed. just take my damned order. polite is good, but this is overkill then again, i also get annoyed when i walk in to a store and am asked "how are you today" and pause for a response like it's normal to tell strangers about my life.

My guess is the gas station next door is most likely out of RedBull.
