R&B is her baseline. Her vocal style is rooted in R&B. No matter what genre she does there is always going to be an element of R&B. Rhythm and Blues is all it is. That doesn't negate the other genres she's tapped into either.

Beyoncé is an R&B artist, a Pop artist, a Country artist, a Hip Hop artist, an Alternative Artist etc. She has done many many genres but her vocal style is R&B which is why people will try to categorize that way. Like he said, SHE IS MUSIC 🤷🏽‍♀️

One of the biggest aspects of Beyoncé’s artistry is her voice. Her vocals are consistently R&B despite what’s being produced. Thus she is an R&B artist. Her ventures into other genres isn’t dominate enough to negate that.

I feel like immediately labeling a black female artist as R&B is a indirect form of racism especially when Beyoncé out of all people is an extremely versatile artist that did +20 genres in the last 30 years and only 20% of her discography is R&B

I agree with the first guy. Sure, she does a lot of different genres, but the core of her vocals and intentionality, even in those genres, is R&B. It is her origin and roots.

I don’t know why people talk about music like this. Pop is not a genre of music. It’s whatever is popular at that time. In the 2010s (in America, at least) EDM was pop, in the 60s rock and roll was pop.

I see both of their points. I feel like Beyoncé overall is a GENRE-LESS artist. But her FOUNDATION is R&B. Lastly, i think most people don’t understand her ART, or can comprehend how she did so well at becoming MAINSTREAM, without being the typical POP ARTIST.

Yes and no. I think she's spent a considerable part of her career rooted in R&B before breaking out of there as a genreless artist (and thereby influencing that trend). That said, there are core Beyoncé genres that are a consistent undercurrent to all her music, one being R&B.
