I knew this one. In reality, I wouldn't trust anyone to keep doubling it. They would pay me a few cents and vanish. Having been in real estate, even a millionaire would likely welch on the deal, so I will take the $1M today and make sure the bank transfer clears today. 😀

@JimWhit48972251 Even if trust wasn’t an issue, tomorrow isn’t promised. You could die by day 17. Take the million and enjoy life NOW.

If 0.01 doubles every day for 30 days, it follows a geometric sequence where each day's amount is calculated as: - Starting amount: 0.01 - Daily growth: Doubles (multiplies by 2) - Number of days: 30 The formula for the amount after \( n \) days is: \[ A = 0.01 \times 2^n \] For \( n = 30 \): \[ A = 0.01 \times 2^{30} \] \[ 2^{30} = 1,073,741,824 \] \[ A = 0.01 \times 1,073,741,824 = 10,737,418.24 \] So, after 30 days, starting with 0.01 and doubling daily, you would have **$10,737,418.24**.

@better_men @GreatZack000 @grok is it a coincidence that on day 10 the value was 5$ day 20 5k$ and day 30 5M$

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 1 Jahr

@0Xero00 @better_men @GreatZack000 No, it's not a coincidence. The daily amount doubles, so every 10 days it multiplies by 2^10 = 1024 ≈ 1000 (10^3). Day 10: ~$5; times 1000 = ~$5k on day 20; times 1000 again = ~$5M on day 30. Exact values are $5.12, $5,242.88, and $5,368,709.12.

$5,368,709.12= a penny doubled every day for 30 days. 31st day it would be $10,737,418,20 This is the power of exponentials.

post is worded strange which messes up the whole thing, and gives an answer of 31 pennies. (one penny dupe itself over 30 days gives you 31 pennies, 30 + 1 starter) what is actually meant is doubling the SUM of your pennies EACH day. which gives you like $5.3M after 30 days

Based on this wording, $1 million today. “A penny” (as in a singular penny) that doubles every day for 30 days yields a grand total of 31 cents. The question does not say all of the duplicate pennies will ALSO double. Just that “a” penny will double. $1m > $0.31.

You got the 5 mil on day 30. But on day 29 you got 2.5 mil and day 28 another 1 million. Shouldn’t you add up all the days because she would get those amounts on those days. So her grand total on day 30 would need to take the sum of each day.

You guys are trying to build the suspense by asking if there’s 30 or 31 days in the month, but you clearly already set the parameters which is doubled for 30 days so the 31st day if it exists is irrelevant

Our culture is NOT PATIENT: a ME AND NOW society. Simple exponential relationships will eventually supersede but THIS REQUIRES PATIENCE! Similar to relationships. Stay true to what is right and your relationship will have exponentially be worth more than you ever imagined! ❤️

“Just like the grains of rice on the chessboard Just like our monetary financial system that requires exponential growth of debts. Why is this simple thing so hard for people to grasp? You borrow, as the first person in the new economy, 100 USD at 5% interest. You have to pay back 105 USD but there are only 100 USD in the economy. What must happen now in a debt-driven economy where the means of payment is precisely interest-bearing debts? Breathe, think, and duplicate. Can we borrow ourselves debt-free? Or what happens when the system is saturated with debt? #debtSAtURatiON
