Would you teach your child how to use a gun?

I do, First lesson is showing them the power of a firearm and the damage they can do, so they respect the tool. Then we cover firearm safety. After that we teach Gun Control, otherwise known as hitting what you aim at.

I did. I now have an adult grandson that can take a Glock 19 and blow you away at a distance. I'm so proud.

We have laws to prevent it and for adult to get carry permit is almost impossible, unless it’s work related. We let our kids to legally fuck at 15, not to mass shoot at schools. We are Europe!

I taught both my children to safely handle guns at a pretty early age (around 8). They are both excellent marksmen and have developed into fine men and productive members of society. My wifes only complaint is no grandchildren yet 😌

Never too early to learn gun safety & proper technique.

Normal kids who often had farhers who hunted had way more knowledge and respect, and skills handling firearms properly. It helped many put food on the table.

Only criminals and gang members ought to know how to handle a gun. Why should any American be able to defend themselves? At least, that’s the democratic position.

Already did, both adults now and my daughter has a Florida CCW. Daddy's real happy because she's quite far from home and knows how to protect herself.

Girl dad here. I have four daughters, and from an early age I taught each of them how to safely handle firearms, how to shoot, and—most importantly—how to respect what a firearm is capable of. They grew up around firearms, so there was never any mystery, fascination, or fear surrounding them. There was simply an understanding that they are serious tools that demand responsibility, discipline, and respect. Now they’re adults, and I’m proud knowing they have the confidence and knowledge to handle themselves safely if they ever find themselves in a situation where that knowledge matters. Teaching them firearm safety didn’t make them violent. It didn’t make them reckless. And no, growing up around firearms didn’t somehow make them want to shoot up a school. It made them informed, capable, responsible adults who understand that owning or handling a firearm comes with an enormous responsibility. As their dad, I’m proud of that.

Mine already do. Like me they were taught super young and were not allowed to shoot until they understand all elements of safety as well as being able to disassemble and reassemble the gun your using

My dad taught me when I was 11 years old...that'd be in Canada. It was a regular occurrence for some kid who got a .22 for their birthday to bring it to class for Show and Tell. Only rule is it had to be leaned against the class room back wall until recess, when all us guys had to inspect. Not one of us would ever consider loading it, shooting it or using it to threaten...we had gun safety pounded into our skulls from day 1.

Taught them all... I took my wife and daughter to the range during police qual. I set them up at 50 yards with my AR and had each shoot. The cops were amazed at their groups. They out shot most of the cops. Why, they took direction and had no bad habits.
