@MeidasTouch The depth of talent on the Dem side amazes me. While the R's have sycophantic whiners using the absolute worst logic possible, Dems have articulate, educated, well-spoken scholars of the trade. I don't even dare try listing them because I would forget many of them.

What good for Neguse is not good for the gander here. *this tweet only sort of makes sense if you know how to pronounce The Goose's name

The more Republicans lie, the more they get caught. MAGA won't care. Most of America does.

Wow. The author of the pesticide liability shield just got grilled on the House floor. His argument literally boils down to: “Trust the science.” And he claimed he “doesn’t know” why Bayer removed glyphosate from residential products. This exchange was full of fireworks. Watch this wild moment for yourself where Rep. Joe Neguse grills Rep. Glenn Thompson, who wrote and sponsored the pesticide immunity shield: Rep. Neguse: “You don’t believe that this bill includes a liability shield?” Rep. Thompson: “Not for bad actors that mislead the EPA.” Rep. Neguse: “It is a liability shield by the plain language of the statute.” Rep. Thompson: “If they’re in compliance with the EPA standards, there’s nothing to sue about … because the science is proven.” Rep. Neguse: “If that’s the case, what in the world motivated Bayer to propose a settlement of $7.25 billion for hundreds of thousands of claims that are being litigated at the Supreme Court today?” Rep. Thompson: “I can’t speak to decision that Bayer—” Rep. Neguse: “So you are in good faith arguing that this provision … has nothing to do with the Supreme Court case that was heard today?” Rep. Thompson: “Not for me personally.” “This is about providing what the farmers are asking for.” Rep. Neguse: “Why do you think Bayer spent $2 million in the last three months lobbying on this bill?” “Can’t explain it?” Rep. Thompson: “We wanted to make sure that if there’s bad actors out there that aren’t in compliance with the labeling standards and providing the EPA the proper information to apply to the label, that those individuals can be sued.” Rep. Neguse: “Bayer has publicly said that if the Supreme Court decision goes their way, or if this language that you’ve written is enacted … they don’t have to worry about failure to warn cases anywhere in the country.” “There are other colleagues of yours who would say, yes, that’s exactly what we want.” “It’s a liability shield for the pesticide manufacturer.” “You’re aware that a couple years ago, Bayer removed glyphosate from residential products?” Rep. Thompson: “Yes.” Rep. Neguse: “If it’s so safe, why’d they do that?” Rep. Thompson: “I don’t know.” Rep. Neguse: “There are Republicans who oppose this provision.” “There are Democrats who oppose this provision.” “And I hope that enough Republican members of the US House tomorrow decide … that this Amendment is worth fighting.” Rep. Thompson: “I hope there’s enough who believe in science.” Rep. Joe Neguse Glenn "GT" Thompson
